Project Description:
This desert environment represents a lost oasis in a vast sea of sand and rock—a wild and solitary place that retains a latent sense of life. The scene aims to transport the viewer to an uninhabited yet mysterious location, where echoes of an ancient civilisation resonate in the air and can be heard in every stone. Although the temple that rises in this landscape has been left behind by time, its walls still whisper stories of what once was and what it might still conceal. I reimagined the temple model to create a narrative that goes beyond a mere collection of elements: it is a living structure that invites us to imagine its past and the hidden future it may hold.
Creation Process:
This work began with the creation of a set of environment assets designed for Infinity27 and their video game Samsara, which will be available on Steam this December. From the creation of this asset set, and with the studio's permission, I updated the elements and incorporated them into a real-time environment in Unreal Engine. I used an asset pack from the Epic Games Marketplace to create a mysterious and intriguing environment that helped me integrate the elements I had created, forming my own composition and adding details using particles through Niagara, allowing for complete control over the elements that the game engine offers.
Tools: 3Ds Max for modeling the temple, RizomUV for UVs, details sculpted in Zbrush and texturing in Substance Painter, assembled and rendered in real-time in Unreal Engine, using tools like Nanite, Lumen, Exponential Height Fog, and Niagara. For the general environment, I used a pack from the Epic Games marketplace.
